The Barra Fishing Environment

The Northern Territory is a very large landmass occupying approximately one-sixth of the Australian continent.

The tropical coastline of the Northern Territory extends west from the Queensland border adjacent to the Gulf of Carpentaria, across the Top End, which is fringed by the Arafura and Timor Seas, and through the Western Australian border the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf.

This coastline is over 3000km in length, most of which is uninhabited.

The Northern Territory has a great deal to offer the keen recreational fisherman; its waterways are unique, diverse and unspoilt.

The Daly River is a beautiful unspoiled river of serene character with overhanging trees and numerous feeder creeks. Whether it is the clear quiet waters above the crossing or further downstream in the tidal reaches where the flood plain creeks merge with the river, fishing the Daly is always exciting. The river supports an abundance of wildlife including crocodiles and many species of birds.

Lure fishing is our speciality; your guide will instruct you how to use all our tackle. We will have you catching fish in no time at all; casting to fallen trees, gutters, trolling submerged snags and creek junctions.

The NT Barra Fishing crew has a sound knowledge of the Daly River including the surrounding wildlife and in particular the birds. A Tour with NT Barra Fishing will not only give you the best chance of catching the mighty Barra but also show you wildlife the river has to offer.

In the interest of sustainable fishing we recommend that all fish over 80cm be released. The viewing of extensive local flora and fauna will enhance the enjoyment of your fishing holiday.

Russell Kenny's NT Barra Fishing offers you and anglers of the future the wonderful pastime of guided fishing. We invite you to come and share in the REAL OUTBACK of the Northern Territory.
